Debate to Reach House Ag Committee:
As you
may be hearing from our national partners and other networks

moving on the food stamps provision of the farm bill very
soon. The Senate will follow later this summer.

Please urge California’s representatives and Senators to

Food Stamp Program in the Farm Bill.

Releases Farm Bill Proposal:
On February

for the 2007 Farm Bill. As a broad statement of
Agricultural policy, the reviews have been mixed. As a
statement on nutrition policy, the proposal has been not
been well received. The Food Research and Action
Center (FRAC) captures the disappointment over a
failure to invest in the food stamp program in this
statement:

Food Stamps and
the 2007 Farm Bill
The Food Stamp Program in California does so much to improve
nutrition. The 2007 Farm Bill provides an opportunity for
the program to do more.
The Farm Bill sets policy in
a number of areas, including agriculture, conservation, and
nutrition. How the Food Stamp Program is to continue is
directed by the Farm Bill. CFPA has put down some initial
thoughts on the opportunity the Farm Bill provides and on
some potential themes for food stamp advocacy.
