2008 County Profiles of Hunger, Nutrition, and Health in California
For each county in California as well as for the state as a whole, we have created county-specific profiles featuring a variety of useful data points, including:
The county profiles are self-contained, county-specific documents that provide evidence for the need for healthy, affordable food in your communities as well as the extent to which the federal nutrition programs can work to alleviate this need. We hope these educational and advocacy tools can be used with decision-makers, community workers, health professionals, anti-hunger advocates, media, and the general public.
As data sources are constantly being updated, we will periodically update these profiles to reflect changing circumstances. Currently, the profiles reflect data available to us as of January-February of 2008. For more information on how these profiles were created, please refer to our methodology.
Tip: Each county's profile is meant to be one piece of paper with two sides - front and back. You may consider keeping this format when printing or copying.
***Please note that for certain smaller counties due to smaller population sizes, certain data points, such as those on food insecurity, # and % of overweight/obesity, and # with diabetes, reflect estimates either based on statistical modeling or on a regional grouping of counties. Refer to the methodology for specifics.***
