What is ENACT 2003?

On May 1, 2003, hundreds of parents, community advocates, health care providers, educators, business leaders and others went to Sacramento to educate their legislators about the obesity epidemic and to support legislation that will strengthen California’s response to this crisis.  The California State PTA and the Strategic Alliance for Healthy Food & Activity Environments cosponsored the event.

What Are the Day’s Events?

Throughout the day, participants will have meetings with legislators. At 10:00 AM, there will be a training about the obesity epidemic, key legislation addressing this issue and how to talk with your legislator about a set of key bills. Training materials include fact sheets about the ENACT slate of bills (see below), a guide to holding effective legislative visits, key messages about nutrition and physical activity bills, responses to frequently asked questions and other materials (available soon).

Then, at 11:30, we will walk to the north steps of the Capitol, where Senator Torlakson and other legislators will join us for a rally.
